Trust and standards

In changing the face of health information on the web (see Welcome), we work to ensure, above all else, that you can trust this website.

Added to the project's foundations - see Funding and legal for charity status and our funding policy - we hope trust also comes from the content standards sixpartswater.org lives up to.

Editorial policy

Visitors to sixpartswater are interested in health and want practical advice on how to stay healthy or live positively with illness.

For people of all ages and ethnic groups from all social backgrounds, sixpartswater.org is a worldwide site. It is a resource both for patients and for health professionals to recommend to their patients.

Our audience includes schoolchildren, students, researchers, journalists, and people who are interested in their health and the health of others.

Being completely independent, sixpartswater is free to appeal to any individual. You are part of a broad audience at sixpartswater.org, not a narrow one dictated by any commercial or political concerns. We promise not to assume, for example, that all people can get the same type of care

Central to delivering medical information to you are two main aims: to be unbiased, trustworthy and reliable; and for all pages to be written in a way that is as easy to understand as possible.

The design of pages and the multimedia offered on them also works to these aims, making medical information accessible, engaging and even fun. The content also includes practical and real-life perspectives.

Who is producing the content?

Great care is taken in the selection and development of a pool of talented medical writers and subeditors. All commissioned writers are either medically qualified or experienced in health fields. High standards of usability and accuracy are also sought from digital artworkers.

Web usability and accessibility

This website has been designed to widely-recognised high standards that ensure as many groups of people as possible are able to access it.
